Rolf Prima Staff Profile: Matt DeBellis

Name: Matt DeBellis
Position: Wheel Builder

What are you currently pedaling? Give us the full kit!

I'm generally cruising on my 1996 Specialized Hardrock setup with a Crust Clydesdale fork and big old basket.  If I'm not on that, I'm on one of my (two) many brakeless fixed gears.

What got you into cycling?

My coworker sold me his Schwinn Varsity for $20 when I was in high school. I did a refurb/repaint on it, got addicted to the process and started interning at a bike shop that summer.

How did you come to Rolf Prima?

I've had the pleasure of working at a couple bike shops in Eugene. Deep down, I was always waiting for a job to open up at Rolf Prima. A friend of a friend let me know there was an opening and I never looked back.

What is the one tool you couldn't do your job without?

I gotta have my tensiometer...I swear that’s spelled correctly!

What do you like to do on your days off?

I like doing anything on 2 wheels.  If I can include my dog, my wife or a couple friends in that, I'm set.

Ok and let's hear some favorites…

Food: Peanut Butter and Cheeto Sandwich.
Music: Anything that'll scare your parents.
Bike: Anything that doesn't have brakes.
Wheels: My dream wheelset would be a Veil 6, laced to some White Industries Track Hubs.

What’s an accomplishment you’re most proud of?

I recently got DFL (Dead Freakin Last) in a bicycle race.

If you could take a bike adventure anywhere in the world where would it be?

I'd love to do some touring in South America.
