Hunter KemperChris Walsh – Top Age Group Triathlete - Cancer Survivor
Most accomplished athletes in the sport of triathlon today know first-hand about sacrifice, commitment, and determination, but rarely will you find one that has pushed themself as far to the edge as Chris Walsh.

An accomplished collegiate swimmer at the University of Notre Dame, Chris has been a top age group triathlete for more than two decades until his diagnosis in 2006 of colorectal cancer."I have always been an athlete so I was as surprised as any of my doctors to find out that I had colorectal cancer. I thought this was a disease for old men?"

With a wife and three young children, Chris opted for the most aggressive cancer treatment protocol available. "After all the chemotherapy, radiation and surgeries, I take nothing for granted anymore. I should be able to win 14 Tour de Frances if I can survive twice the cancer treatment Lance had, train and still work a full time job."

Chris continues to recover and is training to get back to the top level of competition so he can get the word out that no one is immune to the ravages of this disease. "Colorectal cancer can be a silent killer, but it's easily detected with a simple procedure called a colonoscopy."

Chris was recently named "Action Hero of the Year" by the multi-national medical equipment supplier, Stryker. Look for Chris this season tearing it up aboard his Rolf Prima Carbon TdF38 wheels. Good luck Chris!
